Grabbing the garbage

Vestforbrændingen is the largest waste management company in Denmark and is located just outside Copenhagen. It is owned by 19 municipalities and more than 1 million tonnes of waste is handled every year.

Vestforbrændingen also has four different school services: 'Skaldelev' (Garbage Town), WasteLab, PowerLab and 'Det gamle kontrolrum'(the old control room). They each have their focus on either different age group or on different aspects of the waste handling.

22.000 people visits Vestforbrændingen each year, and the majority are school children.
